Capital Markets

Capital Markets is a simultaneous decision. Submit 0 or any other whole, nonnegative number of dividends you want to buy. If your cash is zero or positive, the choice cannot cost more than your current cash. If your cash is already negative, the game accepts a whole-number choice; Reset still checks bankruptcy after the purchase unless the victory check ends the game.

Each dividend costs $15. The game records every airline's choice, then charges the total cost and adds the same number to that airline's dividend count when the phase ends. Dividends are the score used for victory.

The Airline Reinvestment Act can prohibit dividends for three rounds. When dividends are prohibited, acknowledge the phase; no dividend choices are charged or awarded.

A dividend purchase can leave an airline with negative cash only when it was already negative. Bankruptcy is checked during Reset, after the purchase and after the game checks which airlines have reached the victory threshold.
